ABOUT THE ARTIST

         Kristan Paynter was born and raised in Danville, Kentucky where she currently resides. She attended Boyle County High School where she earned an award for ‘most artistic student’ in her 2010 graduating class. Kristan continued her education and soccer career at Eastern Kentucky University, pursuing two years of graphic design and ultimately earning a Bachelor’s Degree in General Arts and Studies with a focus in art and psychology. She worked diligently improving many skills as an artist by working with a variety of mediums including acrylics, oils, pencil, charcoal, clay and wood.  In addition, Kristan collaborated with other students on a mural that is currently displayed in the EKU science building.

         Recently, Kristan spent fifteen months living and working in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany fulfilling her dream of traveling and experiencing the many colors of the world. While overseas, Kristan traveled to Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Scotland, Slovenia, Spain and United Kingdom. These experiences were life changing and inspired her to reach a goal of becoming an accomplished artist.

         Kristan was recently a top five artist chosen for the 2018 Official Breeders' Cup Artist Competition. Kristan has been a featured artist in the 2017 Kentucky State BBQ Festival, 2017 Danville Gallery Hop, and 2017 Wilderness Trail Chili-Cook-Off. Larry Vaught on WKYB in Danville, KY has interviewed her about her art. Her art has also been seen on WHAS11 news of Louisville, KY.

          Kristan is currently painting customized themed pieces consisting of bourbon, UK basketball, horse racing, and many other wonderful aspects of the state. She also enjoys working on portraits, landscapes and recently, wood burning pieces.
